The service, developed in response to requests from customers, incorporates many features that our customers were seeking. It lets customers process payrolls any time throughout the day, from anywhere, without having to install software or maintain IT support.
     All records are securely stored on the Payworks server so they are always safe and always accessible. Payroll set-up is flexible ­­­— it offers unlimited earnings, benefits and deduction capacity just like the desktop application. It provides electronic or hard copy versions of reports, and includes an HR module integrated into the payroll function.
     “The service is designed for any business, but it is particularly convenient for owners who don’t want to be tied to a specific location for running payrolls,” explains Kevin Sokolowski, Vice President of Information Technology and one of the team members who developed the on-line service.” It is ideal for franchise operations with multiple locations or managers who travel for a good portion of the year,” he says.

Donna Dobo, founder of Just Imagine Fun Clothing in Vancouver switched to Payworks on-line service from another provider because she wanted a payroll system that better suited her schedule. “I was tired of sitting and waiting for the phone to ring so I could do my payroll. This lets me do it at my convenience. I’m looking forward to taking a holiday and doing payroll from another country,” she says.

“There is no upper limit on the size of company that can use the service,” he adds. “There is no technology required except for a computer and an Internet connection. All they have to do is log in to our server through their web browser and the service lets them do anything – access pay information, view reports, import hours from a point-of-sale system. It allows for easy distribution of work across a wide geographic area.”

Cam Friesen, Director of Service Operations, cites three main features that customers appreciate – the payroll preview, the user-friendly input and the ability to import information from other sources.

“The payroll preview lets customers verify that the payroll information is correct before any money moves,” Cam says. “Their payrolls are 100% accurate every time.”
     He adds that using the on-line system is very user friendly because the inputs do not require additional learning or using payroll codes. Everything is description driven with easy to follow directions. Users can enter information easily and see exactly what they are inputting.
     “Our customers also like the capacity to import information from secondary sources,” Cam adds. They can directly import time and attendance reports or point-of-sale information from Excel or Lotus Notes, so there is no duplication of keying which saves time and eliminates transcription errors.
