Supporting “Everyday Magic” With The United Way's For Every Family Initiative in Recognition of our 20th Anniversary
September 16, 2021 – In late 2015 – exactly 50 years after they first started changing lives for the better – United Way Winnipeg conceptualized and launched For Every Family. The overarching goal of this homegrown, $15 million initiative is to provide designated support for the life-changing work undertaken by 24 family resource centres (FRCs) across the city – “safe, neighbourhood places where families can get started on the path to better lives.” Payworks is honoured to support this extraordinary and impactful work with a $250,000 donation to the For Every Family initiative as part of our 20th anniversary donation campaign.
Payworks Will Observe The National Day For Truth and Reconciliation
September 7, 2021 – Payworks offices across the country will close on September 30 in support and recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The federal government announced the creation of a new statutory holiday on September 30 in recognition of the tragic legacy of Canadian residential schools and as a response to one of the 94 Calls to Action (CTAs) from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation has been added to the list of statutory holidays for federally regulated employers under the Canada Labour Code, but legislation hasn’t been amended to include the holiday at a provincial level across Canada.

20th Anniversary Support for the West Central Women's Resource Centre's Transitional Housing Initiative
August 4, 2021 – Located in the heart of Winnipeg, the West Central Women's Resource Centre (WCWRC) has worked since 1999 to “empower women, families and the community to move from where they are to where they want to be.” Now, the WCWRC is looking to provide assistance in an entirely new way: transitional housing for women, gender-diverse individuals and children exiting situations of violence. Payworks is honoured to help the WCWRC bring this critical resource to the community with a $100,000 donation as part of our 20th anniversary donation series.

Payworks Announces 20th Anniversary Donation to Qaumajuq, Home of the World’s Largest Collection of Contemporary Inuit Art
March 30, 2021 – Meaning “it is bright, it is lit” in Inuktitut (Nunavik), Qaumajuq (KOW-ma-yourq or HOW-ma-yourk) is a new 40,000 sq. ft. addition to the Winnipeg Art Gallery (WAG) and houses over 14,000 Inuit artworks held in trust by the WAG. Qaumajuq is “the first of its kind in the world – a unique sharing space where Inuit voices are front and centre in sharing their creativity.” Payworks is honoured to provide a $250,000 donation to Qaumajuq in recognition of our 20th anniversary.

February 27, 2021 – Today is International Polar Bear Day, and as part of our 20th anniversary community support series, Payworks is proud to announce a $35,000 donation to Polar Bears International. Polar Bears International is “dedicated to conserving polar bears and their sea ice home.” Their team is comprised of conservationists, scientists and a wide array of dedicated volunteers, and their work is crucial to preserving the environmental health of the Canadian north.
Main Street Project Opening New Shelter Space with help from Payworks
December 13, 2020 – Main Street Project (MSP) is just about ready to open the doors of a new 14,000 sq. ft. shelter space with the help of a $105,000 donation from Payworks. This donation, made in recognition of Payworks’ 20th anniversary, contributed to a $2.5 million renovation of the old Mitchell Fabrics building in downtown Winnipeg.
